Yellow – What Does it Symbolise?

Yellow – What Does it Symbolise?

Think of the colour yellow and you instantly think of:

  • Joy
  • Optimism
  • Happiness
  • Sunshine
  • Idealism
  • Imagination
  • Hope
  • Summer
  • Gold
  • Heat

To us the main thing we think of is bright, cheery and fun.

Bright yellow grabs your attention and when combined with black it is one of the easiest colour combinations to read and also see from a distance.

Yellow represents different things to different cultures.

In some cultures it represents peace, however, in Egypt it is known to be worn to signify the dead and in Japan, yellow stands for courage.

If yellow is overused then it can be overwhelming and studies have shown that babies placed in yellow rooms do tend to cry more…keep this in mind if you are having babies at your yellow roomed reception.

When it comes down to it, it really is up to the individual so have as much or as little as you like, after all, it is your day.

There are different shades and tints of yellow and just some of them are referred to as:

  • Lemon
  • Yellow Ocher
  • Golden
  • Saffron
  • Cream
  • Mustard
  • Mellow Yellow

So yellow would be a great colour to incorporate into a wedding.
