Popeye and Paddle Boats

The Popeye cruise boat and paddle boats are synonymous with South Australia. If you grew up in SA, then you are well aware of the special memories stirred up when you remember the Popeye or when you got those leg muscles working out on the paddle boats.

Located on the beautiful River Torrens and based in the heart of the city this business has been established since 1935.

The Popeye and Captain Jolleys Paddle Boats are now in the loving hands of  the Shuman family. Tony and Lidija Shuman purchased The Popeye fleet in April of 2011 after nearly 20 years on the riverbank.

As a tourist or local nothing is better than a ride on The Popeye and why not stop of and visit the Zoo, Art Gallery, Museum, these and more and in the heart of the city and can be reached via The Popeye.

The Popeye has certainly grown throughout the years and now boast a staff of up to 15 people.

Also changing is the variety of services now offered, not just a simple cruise (though relaxing and wonderful) there are a variety of functions and events that The Popeye now offer, which are only limited by your imagination:

Enjoy a delightful sightseeing cruise down the River Torrens on a stunning heritage boat. Boarding at Elder Park, you will float down the beautiful river in the best seat in the house. Snake through the heart of the city and pass by famed attractions like the Festival Centre, the Entertainment Centre and the SAHMRI.

Admire the ever-changing landscapes that line the waterways as you listen to live commentary by your local guide about the history of the area. Take the option to disembark nearing the end of the cruise if you choose and see Adelaide Zoo and the Botanic Gardens along the way.
